Dolly Sods!

One of our favorite place to go for a long hike is Dolly Sods. Why? Well because its a huge plateau that sits over 4,000 feet above sea level, its covered in blueberry bushes and peat bogs, the creeks are red, the ferns are plentiful, the weather is odd, the rocks are sculpted by the wind, the views stretch on for a 100 miles, the camping is top notch, and the hiking is relatively laid back.

We did a 13-mile loop of the northern portion of the sods. Which goes across open plains, dense forests, bogs, rocks, and creeks. We started the hike around 10am and finished up around 2:30pm. Found a nice place to hang our hammocks and make dinner while watching the clouds buzz over the sods.

At sunset we hiked up to Bear Rocks and watched the sun sink into the wild mountains of West Virginia. Found a nice place to camp back in a dense forest. Moab stayed up all night letting us know anytime a pinecone dropped or a tree creaked.
