This weekend Kim and I loaded up the car and headed south. Thursday night we stayed with our friends Chad and Liz. The next morning we hit the road and fought horrible traffic all day arriving at Steve's house in Savannah just in time for dinner. He and Karie really rolled out the red carpet for us. We were welcomed into the house with an ice cold beverage and the fragrant smell of a seafood feast on the stove. We had crab, fresh Georgia shrimp, garlic mashed potatoes, garlic bread, and salad. After dinner and drinks we hit up an Uber for a night on the town. Starting at Abe's on Lincoln, a little hole in the wall joint. We sketched Abe on napkins, mixed beers, and talked the night away. By the time we left I was in a bit of sublime daze. I remember bits and pieces of the rest of the night, but I'm not exactly sure were we went. There were more drinks, pizza, and walks under the spanish moss while ghost tours loomed in the shadows. Saturday we got up and rode bikes all over the city bumping into friends of Steve and Karie all along the way. Lunch at the best BBQ in Savannah, Wiley's. A tour of the Civil War Fort Pulaski. A walk on the beach. Dinner out on the town again. A Sunday morning pre-dawn run over the bridge. Coffee shops. Another epic dinner at Steve's house. And then finally an early 3am rise for Kim and I and a long drive back to the Shenandoah Valley.
